The current manual communication between the facility and pharmacy is not always an efficient process. It requires
many manual and error prone procedures from obtaining physician orders, transcribing and communication through phone
and fax to and from the pharmacy. It requires many manual steps by the pharmacy to receive, record, review and
resolve discrepancies before processing an order. In addition, the facility currently has no way to track the
expediency of the pharmacy in filling and delivering medication orders.
The Optimus EMR Pharmacy Interface is designed to improve efficiency in all of the above areas. By combining with the
Optimus EMR system, medication management is completely automated. Order entry is minimized, orders are transferred
automatically and verified through the electronic interface, administration documentation is integrated to the full
EMR and end of month changeovers are eliminated by automating the MAR versus receiving it from a pharmacy each month.
